The strengths of my first attempt at motion graphics, Devil Rides Out, was quite successful, I believe this happened because I listened carefully to the step by step instructions and so managed to create a fairly competent design which helped support my knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
My weaknesses were that it took me quite a long time to complete, making quite a few mistakes until I achieved the final product. Even though I followed the video quite closely my final product did not look exactly like my tutors work, making me think I must have made some mistakes.
The strengths of my Pony Compositing are that I think that the finished effect looks quite effective. I listened carefully to the instructions given to me which resulted in my mouth blending in quite well with that of the ponies.
My weaknesses are that after I had produced the Pony Compositing I could not remember how to repeat this technique.
The strengths of E4 Sting were that it was my first attempt and I used some of the techniques that I had learnt from Devil Rides Out. I put these techniques to good use when I created E4, I was particularly pleased that I completed it by myself and I felt that the movement was quite smooth.
My weaknesses here were that the process of creating again was quite slow, I had to take my time, remembering what to do at each stage.
For my final draft I tried to stick quite closely to the brief that the client gave. I had to stick closely to my storyboard for my first draft and I feel that my strengths were that I had remembered what techniques to use after my previous exercises. For my first attempt I was pleased with the colour and the design and the way that the images were brought together. I liked the circle and the movement of the circle. I was happy with the end of the Sport Academy Logo when the words went larger and smaller.
My weaknesses were that when I first created the storyboard I was not aware o how the images would come together but I had to stick accurately to my storyboard. The logo 'Salford City College' did not stay on the screen for long enough, also I did not like the speed of the circle, it was too slow. Even though I liked the style of the 'runner' I did not like the way it moved across the screen, too slow, then too slow without properly blending.
However, I decided to change my final project, making some small changes in order to improve it and make it look more professional. I feel that because of all I had learnt I could complete the task that I needed to. After looking at my final draft I knew that I wanted to improve some of the areas. I was happy wit the amendments I made, correcting some of the areas I had not been happy with on my first draft. The running man was speeded up and blended in better and it lasted for a longer period of time. I speeded up the stripes of the circle making the stripes move more quickly. The logo of Salford City College lasted longer and I added one final technique, the rotation of the circle. Finally, in order to complete the project I added the video footage behind the advertisement.
I feel that my finished product achieved the aim of the project because I feel that it looked professional and would appeal to a youthful audience. It was interesting, I feel that people watching it would instantly be able to recognise what was being advertised. The video opacity I felt was correct because you could see both the logo and the video, neither was too obscured.
